About StormNet IRC Network

StormNet is a privately owned and operated IRC network dedicated to providing a secure and reliable platform for real-time internet communication and community building. StormNet was founded in 2025 as a project by Garret Houston (studded) and his 14 year old daughter Emily (StarFire) whom has taken an interest in computing and server administration. All of our time is volunteered, all of our admins and operators are volunteers and our servers, website and internet connection are supported out-of-pocket. We're always looking for volunteers that want to help better our network and offer their IRC or general computing expertise. We're not aiming to be the next DALnet, EFnet or Libera, we're just a small network that focuses on friendliness, community and service.

StormNet is Canadian and its core servers are hosted just outside the beautiful Alberta city of Calgary. We have 2 servers hosted in the USA (delta & saguaro) and 1 server in The UK (crown).

If you're interested in linking a server to StormNet, please contact us. While not as rigid as the major IRC networks out there, we do have minimum standards that must be met to link a server to our network.

All of our servers are SSL/TLS certified from a recognized certificate authority. Meaning that when you connect to a server on SSL port 6697 your connection and subsequent chatting is encrypted.
